Down by the Riverside

We had a lovely midweek break, and this was the view. I have looked at the calendar and we can manage it again towards the end of August. There is more incentive now as my son and d-i-law have moved back to QLD, and this is about half way, on the Brunswick River, about 1km from the ocean.

What... another week gone!

I just don't seem to be catching up.... hope everyone is doing well!

Here are some photos from Dorrigo National Park and Rainforest Centre.  They have a very long mosaic mural on their building, and a wooden walk out over the canopy.

This is on a plateau after a steep drive, on the Great Dividing Range, which runs most of the way down the East Coast of Australia...... that is the sea you can see on the horizon.

Another scene from my recent trip. This is where I learnt to swim as a child. When I started High School at Coffs Harbour, we weren't allowed to do any other sport until we could swim, and the two teachers walked a number of 11-12 year olds down to this spot at Park Beach. It all looked very benign and calm at low tide recently, but it was a tidal creek only a couple of hundred yards from the sea, and I can't imagine it being done these days.

See Park

We had a few days away, and I did get some photos.  It was memories galore. We stopped for lunch on the first day at a park just around the corner from where I lived with family back around 1970.

We enjoyed seeing many ducks there, here are a couple I managed to snap.

Blue Monday

Yes Blue Monday certainly omes around quickly.  Do visit Smiling Sally to check out all the posts.

We hope to go away for a few days later in the week, and I am looking forward to taking some photos.

Here is a day river trip I took last year.  We were heading upriver towards Mt Warning, named by Captain Cook in 1770, and the first spot to receive the rays of the sun each day.  The last photo shows us alighting for lunch at a riverside pub.

I took some photos today, and when I downloaded I selected 'delete on completion'... but they didn't download, so back to my files.

We were in Yamba NSW in the  late afternoon to go to a concert.

 

Next shot on the other side of the headland above, about 100 yards from where the mighty Clarence enters the sea, taken from the breakwall into the setting sun.

Outdoors

 It was lovely to meet Crystal and Ray's family, this week, and I thought it a good opportunity for you to meet  my son and wife this week and my daughter next week.  Hope that OK with you, dear Crystal.

Summer crowds

Here is a pic that Daphne sent me when we were chatting on Windows Live recently, it is a beach scene from her local paper in the height of the current tourist season in her home town in Argentina. 

I know when my son lived in a tourist area, the permanent population tired of all the crowds of visitors, and I'm sure it is the same for Daphne.

We had a knock at the door about 8am this morning, and it was Mr T. He lives in his version of a motorhome on the road permanently, and makes his base at Texas QLD.  He sent a SMS message last night, but hubby's mobile was turned off, but it was OK, no worries.  Anyway that reminded me of my favourite sunset photo, taken near Texas QLD.

Texas QLD is a very small town about 1km north of the NSW/QLD border and named after Texas USA.  Here is a link. We usually make it through that way once or twice a year.

Blue Monday Tennis and more

Tennis resumed today, after the Christmas and January break.  It was a bit warm 27C  so we only stayed from 8am to 10am.  The players are mostly aged from about 60 to 85 so it isn't too strenuous.

Don't know why, but it reminded me of the old "Pushbike Song"... gotta laugh... some nice blue splashes of colour on the clip.
